PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Wisokolamson Energy Project is an 18 MW wind energy project located on a tract of crown land approximately 12 km west of the Village of Riverside-Albert, New Brunswick. The project consists of five wind-turbine generators with a generating capacity of 3.6 MW each. SWEB Development LP (SWEB), a North American subsidiary of WEB Group, partnered with Woodstock First Nation which is a New Brunswick Maliseet community, to develop the project through a limited partnership.

Black & McDonald (B&M) took on the full design and construction responsibilities for the construction of these wind power generators and electricity infrastructure.

B&M SCOPE OF WORK

The Wisokolamson Energy LP, SWEB Development and Woodstock First Nation partnership needed B&M to conduct a sophisticated construction project with a scope of work that included:

  • All civil work and road construction
  • Design, supply and installation of a new substation and 17 km of overhead collector line
  • Supply and installation of five Vestas turbines
  • All commissioning activities and coordination with NB Power

BENEFITS TO CLIENT

When the indigenous community at Woodstock First Nation partnered to build a clean energy project its leadership hired B&M to take on the job and see it to its 13-month conclusion efficiently, professionally and completely.
