Toronto Hydro Electrical Services – Office Fit-out

Client

Toronto Hydro

Location

Toronto, Ontario

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Toronto Hydro required the conversion of an existing warehouse into a multi-purpose space. The space needed to be made into offices and a warehouse with a new second floor infill addition within the west side of the building. Also a new 6,350 sq. ft. addition was required at the southwest corner for fleet maintenance to the Toronto Hydro site. The total building space consisted of 91,000 sq. ft. of office space and a 93,000 sq. ft. fleet garage.

B&M SCOPE OF WORK

Black & McDonald (B&M) performed a complete fit-out of the Toronto Hydro Electrical Services office space and truck fleet garage. The electrical scope of work included the complete interior renovation of an existing two-storey, 184,000 sq. ft. building, which called for an interior electrical demolition (completed by B&M under separate contract). Additionally, there was a 220,000 sq. ft. exterior parking lot lighting upgrade.

The project included complete removal and replacement of an existing fire alarm system with new wiring.

B&M supplied, installed, tested and commissioned the following equipment and systems:

  • One 3,000 A switchboard
  • Two 1,200 A distribution boards
  • Two 800 A distribution boards
  • Seven 400 A distribution boards
  • Forty-one 125-250 A branch panels
  • Two 200 A automatic transfer switches
  • Two 40 kVA uninterruptable power supplies
