Horizon Project VDU/DRU/HSU

Client

Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL)

Location

Fort McKay, Alberta

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) is one of the top producers in the Alberta Oil Sands. Our Black & McDonald Western Canadian Industrial Region was proud to join forces with Tecnicas Reunidas Canada (TR Canada) in the oil sands mining and upgrading project at CNRL Horizon. CNRL Horizon is located 70 km north of Fort McMurray, Alberta, in the Athabasca region and is 100 percent owned and operated by Canadian Natural Resources Limited. Canadian Natural holds extensive leases that are estimated to contain approximately 14.4 billion barrels of Bitumen Initially in Place (BIIP), with best estimate contingent resources other than reserves of 4.1 billion barrels of bitumen and 3.3 billion barrels of proved and probable SCO reserves. Due to the massive resource base, the mine and plant facilities are expected to produce for decades to come without production declines normally associated with crude oil production.

B&M SCOPE OF WORK

Lifts involved in excess of 650 tons (super mods, towers, furnaces, bitumen column, flash drum, naphtha column, and exchangers).
