PROJECT DESCRIPTION
MedReleaf Corporation, a well-known medical marijuana-growing facility and research laboratory, has been undertaking renovations to its interior, retrofitting plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, and installing irrigation and environmental control systems to transform the 250,000 sq. ft. industrial production facility building in Bradford, Ontario into a world class medical marijuana growing facility and research lab.
B&M SCOPE OF WORK
Black & McDonald (B&M) was the mechanical contractor responsible for the following scope of work:
- Mechanical works on 4,000 ton cooling plant; 2,000 ton cooling plant completed in Phases 1 and 2
- Completed boiler heating plant
- Installation of cooling towers, chillers, Air Handling Units (AHUs), pumps, piping and fabricated ductwork for Phases 1 and 2
BENEFITS TO CLIENT AND PROBLEMS SOLVED
The project was constructed under tight timelines with the owner requiring the plant to be operational within six months. B&M worked with the design-build team and the owner on the first two phases (2,000 tons). The first phase was successfully completed on time and on budget and the second phase was completed in October 2017.
