St. John’s Airport Generator Replacement

Client

St. John’s International Airport Authority

Location

St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

St. John’s International Airport serves more than 1.5 million passengers annually. The airport has undergone several significant upgrades recently and improvement work continues with both terminal and airside projects. The airport provides an important transportation link for all the residents of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Black & McDonald (B&M) completed the installation of two new generators at the field electrical centre located at the airport. The project was scheduled and planned to complete installation of the new generators, day tanks, switchgear and associated wiring within 2,000 hours.

When this vital piece of transportation infrastructure was undergoing renewal, the St. John’s International Airport Authority called B&M to bring the job to its fruition.

B&M SCOPE OF WORK

B&M’s scope of work included the installation of two new generators with supply and installation of associated wiring and piping. The installation of new switchgear with associated wiring and exterior concrete penetrations required new generator plenums with required earthworks to allow for installation of the generator intake hood.

PROBLEM SOLVED

B&M’s electrical and mechanical expertise was at the core of the airport’s decision to put the upgrade project in our capable hands. B&M completed the job on time and to the client’s satisfaction.
