PROJECT DESCRIPTION
GO Transit’s control centre is located in Oakville, Ontario, and occupies 4,400 sq. m. of land. This state-of-the-art facility is LEED Certified Gold in accordance with the Canadian Green Building Council. It features:

- Raised cathedral-style collaborative operational floor

BENEFITS TO CLIENT AND PROBLEMS SOLVED
The logistics of the site made it a challenging work area. There was no laydown area. Black & McDonald (B&M) worked with the client to prefabricate numerous items before bringing them onsite, minimizing laydown area needs and site issues. No labour force could be brought in from IBEW local 353 (GTA) other than site foremen. Only IBEW local 105 (Hamilton) labour could be used due to them being considered resident contractors in the Hamilton local area. B&M worked closely with other local unions to ensure the construction was being completed on time and on budget. Black & McDonald installed a 100 ft. video wall, which at the time was the largest in Canada. We delivered all construction milestones ahead of schedule and won a bonus for its quality work.
