PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Kelcold Refrigerated Warehouse and Logistics Inc. (Kelcold) offers the most modern stateof-the-art and full services refrigerated warehouse in Atlantic Canada. The facility consists of 3.36 million cu. ft. of refrigerated warehouse and 21,000 sq. ft. of refrigerated dock.
Kelcold offers the most modern temperature-controlled warehouse in Atlantic Canada. Kelcold offers industry leading cold storage solutions for dairy, meat and poultry.
When Kelcold of Moncton needed a new overhaul of its refrigeration system, it called Black & McDonald (B&M) to design and build it.
B&M SCOPE OF WORK
B&M was fully responsible for the design, supply and installation portion of a new cold storage refrigeration system for the warehouse and dock facilities.
The refrigerated warehouse and dock temperatures are maintained by a 300 ton multi- temperature central ammonia plant that utilizes 625 HP of compressor capacity. Variable frequency drives were installed on the screw compressors and condenser in order to maximize system efficiencies. The system was controlled by a dedicated refrigeration control system. It utilized floating head pressure, load shedding, and energy monitoring to assist in minimizing energy consumption.
