Expansion of the Gaz Métro Plant

Client

Gaz Métro

Location

Montreal-East, Quebec

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Black & McDonald (B&M) was a designated general contractor for the construction of Phase 1 of the expansion of Linde Process Plants’s Gaz Métro Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant in Montreal-East, Quebec.

B&M SCOPE OF WORK

Since the initial contract was awarded, B&M’s role increased substantially to include Phase 2 of the expansion, which included mechanical, piping, structural, electrical, instrumentation and insulation work.

BENEFITS TO CLIENT AND ACHIEVEMENTS

The B&M team consistently went above and beyond serving the client. B&M technicians worked over 500,000 hours at the site with no lost time accidents.

INNOVATIVE PROCESS

In order to execute the work by reducing impact on the overall project without some interesting challenges as such as HSE, quality, tight schedule and budget, B&M proposed a new construction strategy focusing on very tight coordination between the different trades working at the site due to limited workspace, as well as an acceleration of the schedule without forsaking HSE procedures.
