PROJECT DESCRIPTION

St. Isidore TS is a 230 kV / 44 kV DESN station located in eastern Ontario, near Ottawa. The station reached its end of expected service life, therefore Hydro One decided to proceed with a complete station refurbishment investment.

SCOPE OF WORK

Black & McDonald was awarded the complete design, procurement and construction/installation with respect to the following:

  • Two 230 kV disconnect switch and bus work
  • Two 50/67/83 MVA, 230/44 kV power transformers
  • Two neutral reactors for the transformers
  • New outdoor 44 kV switchyard
  • Two new 44 kV, 21.6 MVAR capacitor banks
  • Two new AC SS transformers and all 120/208 V distribution panels outside existing relay building
  • One 54 ft. long PCT Building for all P&C equipment and DC SS associated with the new DESN Station
  • Associated controls, protections, metering, telecommunication systems
  • Environmental, site preparation and civil work
  • Decommissioning, dismantling and disposal of the existing facility, equipment, hardware and material etc., and also restoring the site
  • Coordination of engineering design work with Hydro One Design Engineers working on the 230 kV yard. This will be required to ensure successful completion of the entire project at St. Isidore TS
