PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project called for widening a 4.2 km stretch of Highway 7 between Highway 400 and the GO Bradford/Barrie Railway line in the city of Vaughan. This section of the VivaNext program was comprised of regular Viva Platforms Stations and one Large Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) Station at the intersection of Highway 7 and Millway Street. The VMC Station was designed to house the extension of the Toronto-York Spadina subway system.

B&M SCOPE OF WORK

Black & McDonald (B&M) was contracted to complete the following electrical and civil works:

  • Under pavement crossings by directional drilling
  • Installation of permanent and temporary intersections
  • Installation of decorative lighting and platform lighting
  • Concrete pole footings for street lighting and traffic signals
  • Rigid PVC conduit for street lighting, traffic signals and fibre optics
  • Concrete encased duct banks for conduit beneath platform stations
  • Installation of traffic signals, audible pedestrian signals and street lighting
