PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The 100 megawatt (MW) Belle River Wind project consisted of 40 Siemens Ontario-made turbines that produced clean, renewable energy equal to the needs of approximately 35,000 Ontario homes.

B&M SCOPE OF WORK

Together with Black & McDonald’s (B&M) Joint Venture Partner AMEC the Southern Ontario Utility Region was awarded the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for the Belle River Wind Farm Project.

The services provided by our team included installation of a 34.5/230 kV substation, installation of a 230 kV switching station, construction of 40 turbine foundations and turbine erection (40 Siemens 3 MW WTG). Additionally, B&M constructed access roads for each turbine site, built an operations and maintenance building, installed an underground 34.5 kV collector system, installed an overhead 230 kV transmission line (7 km), and completed testing and commissioning of stations and turbines.
