Bayer Building Expansion
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Bayer Crop Science is one of the leading partners for the production of quality food, feed, and fiber to meet the global challenges of tomorrow. The three business groups – Crop Protection, BioScience, and Environmental Science – meet the needs of different markets and are highly complementary.
B&M SCOPE OF WORK
Black & McDonald (B&M) was contracted by Bayer to supply all electrical power requirements to its new building addition that was connected to an existing building. B&M installed a new 13,200 V feed from an existing substation to two new pad mount transformers. A bus duct was installed from transformers to new 480 V distribution gear. Inside the building B&M installed four new 480 V Motor Control Centers (MCC). A cable tray was situated from the new PDP building to the new MCC room. All new process instrumentation was installed and control cabling which would control these devices through remote I/O. New power cables were situated in the cable tray to feed new agitators and pumps. A new emergency backup system for critical facility power was also established.
