
Troost Avenue Transmission Line
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
As an investor-owned, regulated electric utility, Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L) serves more than 800,000 customers in 47 northwest Missouri and eastern Kansas counties. With a service area of about 18,000 square miles, it takes more than 3,000 miles of transmission lines, 24,000 miles of distribution lines and more than 400 substations to deliver power to all the customers.
B&M SCOPE OF WORK
Black & McDonald (B&M) was awarded a contract with KCP&L to cut in the 161 kV transmission line to the new Troost Substation. B&M’s scope of work on the project consisted of installing five new steel transmission structures and installing conductor to the crawl down structures in the new Troost substation.
