PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Orbital ATK Armament Systems specializes in innovating low-cost, highly reliable and precise weapons and ammunition for artillery and mortar systems, medium caliber weapons platforms, battle tanks and for the individual soldier. It is the world’s top producer of medium-caliber live and training ammunition and gun systems. Its precision guidance kit approach provides a common technology base that transforms conventional artillery and mortar munitions into precise, Global Positioning System (GPS) guided weapons.

When OrbitalATK needed capable direction on its lighting renewal program, it turned to the capable experience of Black & McDonald (B&M) professionals to get the job done.

B&M SCOPE OF WORK

B&M is an onsite maintenance service provider and works with OrbitalATK to maintain and upgrade various systems within their facility.

B&M removed and upgraded older inefficient T-12 lights to newer T-8 and LED fixtures. Safety upgrades were completed to various production lines to follow newer safety standards. Machine Integration and Automation Control upgrades were completed with newer equipment being installed and additional control systems added. Some of B&M’s installations required special attention due to Class 1, Division 2 Classifications. All electrical requirements for building 35 Catenary Lighting Protection System were completed. This required various pole structures that were connected with specific cable all leading to a grounding system channeling lightening away from this critical building.

OrbitalATK was able to renew much of its lighting infrastructure safely and efficiently with the able partnership with B&M. B&M continues to work with OrbitalATK on a daily basis.
