PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Black & McDonald (B&M) maintains and services approximately 33,000 streetlights owned by Kansas City Power & Light (KCPL) in the greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area.
B&M SCOPE OF WORK
B&M’s KCPL Streetlight Maintenance Program includes:
- Working on all overhead and underground infrastructure
- Routine repairs to fixture, bulb, photocell, fuses, etc. within 48 hours of discovery
- Providing safe services on downed poles and damaged lines within one hour
- Conducting pole replacements for damaged, rusted, or rotted poles within seven days
- Troubleshooting underground cable and repair within 10 days
- Installation (directional boring or trenching) of conduit for line replacement
- Providing 24/7/365 help desk and central dispatch services
- Tracking all attributes of every asset using the work order management system,
- GPS location and work order history
- Evaluation of life cycle and asset management history for process improvements and budget forecasting
- Procurement and management of in-house inventory
- Providing 24/7 service truck support
- Guarantee of performance, offering monthly reporting showing response/completion times
- Performing LED upgrade of 30,000 fixtures from HID to LED between 2016-2018
- Managing waste disposal of hazardous materials per EPA guidelines
- Tracking material under warranty through Asset Management System
- Providing inventory/auditing services as needed utilizing inhouse GIS application to track additions, removals, or field issues
- Providing night patrol of the entire LED system on a quarterly basis using GIS technology
- Conducting bi-annual day time inspection/condition assessment utilizing GIS technology
- Partnering with MBE/WBE subcontractors and suppliers for labor, equipment, and materials
