B&M SCOPE OF WORK

Black & McDonald (B&M) was contracted by Cerner to install a conduit system that would house future fiber optic cables from their server room to the new call center computer room. B&M was permitted to work during regular hours in the occupied campus, however the new call center area needed to be secure and classified as a construction zone. Once the area was secure, B&M supplied and installed 2-4 in. EMT conduits as well as two large 3 ft. x 3 ft. junction points that would allow for proper radius bending of fiber optic cables as recommended by the manufacturer. This pipe run had a few transitions requiring specific custom bends throughout as well as being 10 ft. above the floor. Even though it was only 10 ft. above the floor, special considerations were taken into account while working from step ladders making sure that B&M had three point contact and that the proper safety PPE was being used by B&M’s workers. Once the conduits were secure and installed, B&M blew in drag lines to pull the future fiber optic cables.
