Black & McDonald Celebrates International Women’s Day

On International Women’s Day 2024, we honored and recognized the incredible achievements of women worldwide. This year’s theme, “Inspire Inclusion” resonates deeply with our core values.

At B&M, we believe in embracing diversity, fostering equity, and weaving inclusion into the fabric of our organization.

The CVD office celebrated with a panel of esteemed speakers that included Denisa Leiba (Vice President, People Resources), Paula Irwin (Director, Corporate Procurement), Yasmin Abdiladif (Project Planner), Erica Brabon (Director, Energy and Sustainability), Anuradha Chordekar (Training Specialist), and moderated by April Jackson (Talent Development Program Manager). The group shared their unique insights and experiences while focusing on actionable steps we can all take to inspire inclusion in the workplace. From engineering and finance to project management and leadership roles, women at B&M elevate our collective success with their expertise, passion, and vision. There was also time for networking with peers after the panel and a “Wall of Inspiration” for everyone to record and share their thoughts and quotes to uplift and empower one another.

Other offices celebrated in big ways as well! B&M’s Construction Division celebrated IWD by recognizing the extraordinary achievements and contributions of women. The Pullman Court office contributed to the breast screening program at Scarborough Health Network Foundation (SHN Foundation) through a successful 50/50 draw.

The PGR team organized a successful 50/50 fundraiser with purple shirts and toques for Bethesda House. Together, they raised almost $2,800 in support of women and children in domestic violence situations.

Black & McDonald is proud to be a part of a global business community that values the contributions of women in every sector.

We continue to be committed to nurturing a culture of inclusion and respect in our workplace.
