City of Halifax - North Park
Street Upgrades

The North Park Intersection Redesign is the first major municipal roundabout project of its kind. This project was completed in two separate phases. Each phase was designed to complete one roundabout. Phase one included the roundabout at Cunard Street and North Park Street and phase two included the roundabout at Cornwallis Street and North Park Street.

Redesigning these two sites allowed for significant neighbourhood improvements, including upgraded street, pedestrian, and cycling infrastructure and high quality public spaces.

The upgrades Black & McDonald performed for North Park Street included new street lighting, all new underground power and telecommunications infrastructure to replace the existing overhead lines, and the conversion of two intersections into roundabouts. The new underground infrastructure aspects consisted of direct buried ductbanks, concrete encased ductbanks, and new electrical vaults.
